Biblical Ties

A True Account

If the Bible is true, then it should correspond to the rest of our experiences. But that isn't all. If the Bible can be shown to be a trustworthy resource on many occasions, then it can begin to be used as a reference point. That is to say, the greater amount of the Bible that is shown to be true, the greater the likelihood of the remaining, unverified, amount being true.

Here is a partial list of the parts of the Bible that align with other knowns, verifiying the text, and, subsequently, verifying unknowns beyond.

Origins Cosmological Proof

Genesis 1:1 (NIV)"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

This verse clearly shows that God gave rise to the Universe. Additionally, the phrase "In the beginning..." also aligns with the claim of God's lack of beginning.

John 17:5 (NIV) "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."

John 17:24 (NIV) "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world."

These two verses also show that God existed before the world, without mention of His beginning, supporting the eternal nature and lack of beginning of the existence of God.

Deuteronomy 33:27 (NIV) "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, ‘Destroy him!’"

Here God is clearly described as eternal.

Revelation 1:8 (NIV) reads: "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

When we look closer, specifically at “. . . who is, who was, and who is to come . . .” we realize that the Bible describes God as eternal, which aligns precisely with what we can logically conclude about the originator of our universe. You might object, since I just said, in the proof, that there was no “was” or “will be” for that originator, but He is not implying a past or a future for Himself. Rather, He is telling us that He has been in our past, and will be in our future. We’re the ones in time, after all.
